Kim Hollis: The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water showed to a massive $55. 4 thousand thousand. What do you think of this result? Jay Barney: I'd say much of this creating has to do with the built in generational endure and the light number of kids' promotions going back to the holiday season. It has been in the media for so long the and designer label has been around for a long time. It is strange to consider SpongeBob as a franchise, but with the achievements of this sequel and the longevity for the cartoon, it is hard to argue with the the truth unfolding before us. I'm an enterprise believer that studios seriously ignore the potential dollars that could be earned to learn quality kids' offerings, and I think that led to part of the equation. Strange Magic was published three weeks ago but contracted little support for a number of reasons. Paddington has done extremely well in the global 18 yard box office; its success almost proves the moment, though. Night at the Museum 3 and Annie were released right before Christmas. That would make just several films, two not even animated, first released in the two and a half months leading up to SpongeBob. As for the opening itself, this is incredible. I was a little surprised at the scale the budget. $74 million isn't plainly cheap, especially when tracking had a new opening in the mid-20s. Compared to the budget put behind something like Monsters, Incorporation., Big Hero 6, or even Polar bears of Madagascar, it cost not even considering trying to reach. It feels strange even writing the foregoing, but The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Released from Water has given us regular second film of the year creating north of $50 million. On your box office, this is pretty out of the ordinary for this early in the year. The SEGLAR Movie opened very big by using 2014. In 2013 no tinting film opened above $50 million thankfully Oz the Great and Powerful achieved it in early March. In 2012 it was not until The Lorax in March. Indeed I'd say this year's 18 yard box office is sizzling.
